Why give?
The Bible is clear that God doesn’t need our money or possessions. In fact, all that we have has been given to us from God.
God desires our hearts to be transformed and that we seek to be holy, as He is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16). We are to store up treasures in heaven where they cannot be destroyed, rather than being devoted to money and belongings that can disappear at any time (Matthew 6:19-21). As our hearts are conformed more to the likeliness of God’s son, Jesus Christ, we learn to focus more on what is eternally important (2 Corinthians 4:18). As we do this, we step out in faith and our view and use of worldly possessions will change.
We give to the work and ministry of God not out of compulsion, obligation or reluctance, but out of thankfulness and faithfulness. For God loves a cheerful giver, a person who has willingly decided in their heart what they can give (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
Where do my gifts go?
In the local ministry context of Georges Hall, gifts and donations are used to support the work of the church in local community outreach, and overseas mission and support. We also need to set money aside to cover the cost of the ongoing operation of the church (e.g. staffing costs, repairs and maintenance, utilities etc). St Martins also has committed to reaching and supporting the people of Georges Hall. This is achieved by directing funds towards ‘reaching’, ‘assimilating’ and ‘growing’ people in our local community.
St Martins has also entered into active relationships of prayerful and financial support with the following mission partners:
· CMS – Julie
· Entheos – Jackie Gibbon
· SIM – John & Fiona McIvor
· Bush Church Aid – Jacob & Sarah Kelly
· BLAST – Bankstown Local Area Scripture Team
· Compassion
Your gift will be used to help support the vital work of our church.
